Stuart has split Hiding in the Long Grass into three sections:

Section one, Savay Lake – Stuart was offered a place on the Savay syndicate in 2012, which was where his first book, Beyond the Green Gate, ended. Hiding in the Long Grass starts at this point in time and details the years that Stuart spent fishing the wonderful and historic, Savay Lake. These are Stuart’s adventures as a member of the ‘Toad’ rota.

Section two, Chimneys – Stuart was introduced to Chimneys in November 2014. Chimneys is a truly wild, open, barren, bitch of a lake that will kick you in the nuts at every possible turn. Every bit of flora has spikes or thorns protruding from them, every insect seems to be waving a proboscis in search of blood, the clay soil ensures you’ll get stuck in the car park after rain and a season-long blank is very much a possibility. Stuart gives a warts-and-all account of the highs and lows of fishing such a demanding water.

Section three, The River Trent – The final section focusses predominantly on targeting barbel on the Trent, where Stuart set himself two targets; firstly to catch a 15lb barbel, and secondly, to catch a double figured barbel every month of the river season. All of which is done during short day sessions, on quiet stretches of river and all fish were caught whilst ‘watching the tip,’ rather than using buzzers and a bivvy.
